How to use it
- Enter your volume and how many degrees to raise the water.
- Pick your heater type and your energy price (leave price blank to use a typical default).
- Compare types — a heat pump usually costs a fraction of gas or electric resistance.
Gas vs. heat pump vs. electric
Gas heats fast but burns money on big rises. Electric resistance is the most expensive to run. A heat pump is slow but cheapest per degree because it moves heat instead of making it (a COP around 5 means ~5 units of heat per unit of electricity). Whatever you use, a cover is the single biggest cost saver — most heat is lost off the surface.
